Once the outer corner of the eye starts to bother you and you begin looking into a revision, the fee is usually the first thing you ask about. After two or three consultations, though, both the method proposed and the figure quoted turn out to be different everywhere, and it becomes hard to know what you are even comparing.<\/p>\n
Most people arrive with two assumptions already in place: that a badly distorted corner will cost more, and that doing both eyes will cost twice as much. Both treat the fee as something that tracks how hard the work is. That is not how it is set.<\/p>\n

What moves the figure in an outer-corner revision is not how much work it takes, but what is inside the plan. Two clinics can use the same name for the operation; if the procedures inside differ, the two quotes were describing different operations from the start.<\/p>\n
Among those procedures, one of them actually moves the fee. It is the step in which a corner that has dropped is fastened back to the edge of the bone with a suture — a canthopexy. If that step is in the plan, the operation has one more procedure in it. If it is not, it does not.<\/p>\n
The same logic runs on the inner corner, where the items that divide a quote are different again. Where the tissue that was holding that opening has gone slack, simply suturing the divided line back as it was will not hold the shape. That is why a corner can droop, or the end gape again, some months later.<\/p>\n So the dividing line is not how large the scar is. It is how much holding power is left. Where there is enough, the shape comes back without a fastening step; where it has gone, a step that anchors to the bone is added. The corner can sit low so the eye reads downturned. The end can sit open and angular, with red tissue showing through from the front. A ridge can rise over the line that was divided. None of that raises the figure. Taking longer to look through and release an area does not add a procedure to the operation.
